The Decennial of the Milton Tan Memorial Fund

All works of creativity exhibit the creator’s applied mind to form and function, but also pay a silent homage to the environment and circumstances that presented the possibility for it to manifest as the final product we’ve come to appreciate.

Dr. Milton Tan considered a pencil and paper just as important as the hand behind a sketch. It is in this spirit that the Milton Tan Memorial Fund (“MTMF”) seeks to provide aspiring designers such ‘tools’ in the form of masterful mentorship, experienced tutelage and broadened network. All of which purposefully aligned towards creating the opportunity for their best work yet.

The MTMF is intended to:

  • Promote Architecture and Design in Singapore.

  • Provide scholarships, awards and financial support for overseas training in design (overseas internships) to NUS students in the Department of Architecture & the Division of Industrial Design; and

  • Encourage students who have made significant improvements in their academic performance in the preceding year.

We celebrate the MTMF’s contributions to the design community over the last decade, the Fund’s donors, managers and beneficiaries as well as the people and institutions preparing our next generation of creatives.

The family of the late Dr. Tan extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of them for their tireless efforts in furthering a legacy.
